TOUCH OF CLASS KARAOKE
WTH HOST "SHOWCASE JOHNNY"
ABOUT
SHOWCASE JOHNNY
(IN HIS OWN WORDS)
I have been singing karaoke since '91 and wish I had started sooner. I have held previous showcases for charity events at Las Hadas (before the days of hurricane Debbie and John), The Odyssey, Volares, Valentino's (now known as Oh' Gradys), The Crest, and El Torito on Ventura Blvd. I also substituted for other KJs under a different stage name before I became Showcase Johnny (AKA Sharkey).

Trivia: "Showcase Johnny" has been in the Karaoke Scene magazine at least three times. When I first appeared on the karaoke scene in the Simi Valley area, I was known as Sharkey (original stage name, but that's another story!) I have made many cameo karaoke appearances at other venues such as Leon's Steak house, Mr. B's, Rubes, Cousins, VFW, Moose Lodge, Bergies, Buddy's Diner, Tavern On The Green, The Other Place, Corbin Bowl, Lulu's, Matador Bowl, The Elephant Bar, The Tree House, Chances, Brunswick Bowl (in Simi Valley) and even New York, New York (in Las Vegas) to name a few!!
The name Showcase Johnny was given to me by Sugar Grassi from Shugartime Karaoke (At Valentino’s) and was credited for the Karaoke For A Cause campaign (gathering singers together to fight MS), which eventually started Karaoke Fest. I also was the VIP telephone operator on Channel 5’s Stars Across America on the first year that it aired in California. I also was involved in other charity events with different KJs such as Lori Haley (Kids Across America).
